Abstract
This chapter presents methods for synchronization of time and data in sensor networks and underwater sensor networks. The ability to synchronize nodes in a wireless network is a very important factor for energy efficiency and successful data transfer. Synchronizing each node will help maintain unnecessary energy loss due to lost and retransmitted data. Several protocols, such as pair-wise and global time synchronizing, distributed and centralized time synchronizing, etc., are covered throughout this chapter. Security synchronization protocols for controlling attacks on wireless sensor networks are also covered.
