Absence of anomalous entrance channel effects in sub-barrier heavy ion fusion

Abstract

Fusion cross sections and gamma ray multiplicities have been measured for the Si28+142Ce, S32+138Ba, and Ti48+122Sn entrance channels leading to the Hf170 compound nucleus. The mean spins deduced from the gamma multiplicities do not show any anomalous behavior as observed in some other measurements.
