
David Smith

David Smith is currently a PhD candidate in Sport and Exercise Science from the German Sports University, he holds a Master’s in Sport and Exercise Psychology from the German Sports University, and a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Science from Metropolitan State University of Denver. He holds his NSCA CSCS, and is certified by the German Association for Sport Psychology as a sport psychology expert, as well as the International Olympic Committee in mental health for elite athletes. Since 2009, David has worked across exercise and sport science as a mental performance coach, strength and conditioning coach, sport coach, personal trainer, fitness instructor, and more. He is also a researcher and university lecturer, with extensive experience working with grassroots inclusive sports and marginalised populations. David has previously served with State University New York and the German Sports University, and has experiences working with TSG Hoffenheim, Pride Cheerleading Association, You Can Play, Special Olympics, FC Düren, and many others. His research interests include ecological dynamics in cognition, perception and action, coordinative dynamics within team sports, psychological first aid in sport psychology, LGBTQ+ inclusion and liberation psychology, transgender athletes and sport performance, long term athletic development, and much more.
